Mathematics and physics are subjects where procedures are applied. When I teach them, I begin by explaining the procedure in two or three exercises. After this, I ask the student to explain verbally or in writing the procedure they used in each exercise, as well as any applicable conditions. Then I give the student new exercises to solve on their own. And during review sessions, as a reminder, I ask them to rehearse the procedure before working on the exercise.
